6th-August-2015: After a week of tremendous efforts put into promotions, the Literary Club SHIATS finally dressed up their best on Thursday, 6th-August-2015 for their inaugural reception.
The event was marked by the presence of a string of esteemed guests. Dr. Vishal Mangalwadi, Director, Centre for Human Resource Development, SHIATS, was the chief guest. He, along with Dr. Ashish Alexander, had been the premier adviser of the club throughout their informal existence. Congratulating the team on the hard earned milestone, He promised to continue to elevate the efforts of the club as a part of the LCS family.
Miss. Shivani Jha, one of the core members, put forward a sketch of the future prospects of the club. Following it, Mr. Kaushalendra Pratap Singh, the Founder President of the club, briefly mapped the route along which the club had come so far.
Dr. Y. Ravi Kiron, Dy. Director, Jawahar Planetorium, a special guest, put forward his share of gratitude by throwing light on the life of the ‘Missile man of India’ – Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and how his efforts had brought about a significant difference in the state of technological evolution in India.
A special attraction of the event was Dr. Ashish Alexander, Head, Department of English, SHIATS. He delivered a lecture on Pre-Independance India as seen by Premchand and Dr.Sam Higginbottom in which he highlighted the pathetic state of the rural Indian masses in the early 20th century and how the educated, who had been disinterested so far, could make a difference even today.
Prof. (Dr.) A.K.A. Lawrence, Pro. Vice Chancellor, SHIATS, the guest of honor, gladly addressed the gathering and was happy to have the club as another feather in the university’s cap.
Prof. P.J. George, the university Chaplain, brought together the congregation into prayer and the event ended on a note of thanks by Mr. Rakib Ahmed Kidwai, President, LCS.
